Lagos Driving Survival Guide
If you have been in Lagos for a while, you will should have heard this line
"...if you can drive in Lagos, you can drive anywhere in the world"
sound familiar?
These are just a few guidelines I think are helpful for the average Lagos driver.
"...if you can drive in Lagos, you can drive anywhere in the world"
sound familiar?
These are just a few guidelines I think are helpful for the average Lagos driver.
When in light traffic at a bus stop, if
there is a truck ahead of you, follow it closely. They have a way of
pushing through traffic.
Never answer a phone while taking an
intersection.
Keep a close eye on taxis while
driving, especially in traffic. They have a funny way of negotiating.
Taxis never give you allowance or their
right of way so don't bother begging.
On the other hand, Taxis are very good
at begging you for right of way.
Keke riders all have the same face and
brain. They are a nuisance most times.
Every side mirror has a blind spot.
Find it and watch it so you don't get scratched by an incoming
vehicle.
Yes you can eat in traffic. I doubt it
is being enforced ( Don't ask me, I just observe)
Watch out for buses. Their hands
change direction without warning.
When doing above 70kmph, keep both
hands on the steering wheel.
Listen to your car, its trying to speak
to you. When you get used to it, trust me you will know what to do.
Pedestrians can be a nuisance so watch
out for the unruly ones that give you the finger.
When its raining, reduce your speed or
your car could skid and bounce off the road. Its called the
aquaplaning effect and its common in engineering physics.
This is by no means a comprehensive list and I would update it if the need arises.
Hope you find it useful
